Fun stuff! Boy do I have some new rolls to show you and some tales to tell. This past weekend was too amazing for words. Despite my constant insistence that I was a whitewater kayaker, I found myself falling completely in love with the traditonal rolling SOFs as well as the tuiliqs. The instructors were amazing (both as people and as teachers) and I was amazed at their skills. I thought I knew a lot of rolls going into this weekend but I think I must have added another dozen to the list. I have a LOT of things to work on!

Coincidentally I got a chance to paddle with Dick from Milwaukee (Romany with the keel strip). It's too bad that you weren't there this weekend as Dave Braun sold his carbon Anas Acuta at a killer price which I'm sure you would have jumped at had you been there. On that note, I'm also selling the Betsie Bay. I'm trying to get in touch with Peter Strand to have him make me a replica of Cheri Perry's rolling qajaq (which in turn is a replica of Maligiaq's qajaq) and I need the funds for it. (My new rule is if I buy a boat, I have to sell a boat!)

On a seperate note, being the boat whore that I am, I must have tried out a dozen different kayaks. I finally got some seat time in Cheri's Impex Outer Island (after hogging her rolling SOF and her rolling stich and glue qajaqs all morning) and I was amazed. It is the easiest rolling production kayak that I have ever been in (Dick's Romany being a close second). Heck I even managed to elbow roll it fairly consistantly. I still hope to own one down the line at some point but that might not be for some time. I'll have to write up a full recap of this weekend at some point and email it to ya!

Noticed that GP getting preference, eh? Yeah, I'd better start working with the Euro again.

Maybe they would qualify for "out of set up position" rolls. Sure would wake up the IT anyway!

My boat's going to have a cool keel strip now! Can't trade it in! Actually I really like the new out-fitting. Mary's boat feels pretty sloppy to me right now. But who knows what will happen after we get the Acuta.
