The Freya Underground

Ok, so I know there are a lot of you out there on the web who are looking for information about German kayaker & instructor, Freya Hoffmeister. Certainly no one can argue with your motivation. Freya has quickly become one of the most well known coaches in the traditional kayaking world. Her balance and skill have been amazing and inspiring folks wherever she goes.

Recently you may also have come across a photo of her, ( and a photo that’s not really her) in Sea Kayaker magazine. Can you tell which is which?? If you haven’t already, you’ll have to get those copies of Sea Kayaker now!! (sorry I’m not going to tell you which issues, you’ll just have to ask them!) You know, even here at Kayak Wisconsin I’ve seen a steady growth in the the number of people coming here while searching for Freya on the web. And that caught my attention too. We’re certainly a bit off the beaten path. .

Now you can imagine I was really feeling bad that when they came here looking for information about Ms. Hoffmeister, all they were going to find is a couple short mentions in past posts. How disappointing! Well that’s my fault and I take the blame. So I went right out and started looking to see what I could do to help folks sooth their addictions. (See what a really good person I am!??). Thankfully I got some help!

First off, I’ll let Freya tell you about herself,
click here to read her bio at Qajaq USA.

Freya is of course available to teach Greenland Rolling pretty much anywhere on the planet. The trick is getting on her calendar! (Email Here) She currently does not have her own website , but thankfully there is a good amount for information and photographs around the web. You just have to dig a bit . And with that in mind. . .

I am having the time of my life, Bonnie.
Derrick, you are thorough but there is a missing link that your readers might find of interest. Freya at ease with the QajaqUsa friends at the Dalmarva retreat and with the Greenlander Club of Eiichi Ito:

Oops! I’ve just realized you already got it all right.
    You indeed are very thorough.

    Hi Derrick!
Nice pictures. I was only wondering why most of them are upside down. On a Kayak blog it can’t be by mistake;) Is it for artistic reasons, a better composition? Needless I would say.
    greetings,
    Hans

    Hey Hans,

Yep, that’s the way Freya sent them. I agree that they work either way. :)

    Thanks!

Hi. I’m a friend of Bonnie’s, and I’m not a kayaker, but if you keep posting photos like these I may soon become one.
