Paddler’s Park

Here’s This From John Wallace of The North East Wisconsin Paddlers; What a great gift for the group. If you get the Manitowoc HTR, check out page A6 of Thursday’s (12/22) edition. If you don’t get it, let me recap:

At this week’s Two Rivers City Council meeting approval was given to a request initiated by Phil Rohrer through the Parks and Recreation Department to name the 27th Street Boat Launch to “Paddlers Park.” Quoting from the HTR article:

“Kayaker Phil Rohrer made the request because the facility is used by the Green Bay Paddlers, which teaches kayaking in Two Rivers.”

“The city approved the request because the facility is underused because of low water conditions; low water makes it ideal for launching small watercraft, canoes and kayaks; there have been several successful kayak events held at the location and renaming will improve promotion of the park.”

Another great accomplishment For Phil Rohr and certainly a statment about the city of Two Rivers commitment to paddlers.

One Response to Paddler’s Park

  • johnb says:

Congratulations to Phil, and to the Two Rivers City Council!

Phil has been a tireless promoter of sea kayaking, every sea kayaking community needs a Phil Rohrer–I know that we aren’t supposed to be using all of our technology to clone humans, but perhaps we should make an exception in Phil’s case.

Now Two Rivers, rename that bridge to the Phil Rohrer Bridge (the one over the river next to Phil’s cafe on Hwy 42).
