Home from this evenings practice. I’m not sure there is a spot on my body that does not ache to some degree. My shoulders feel as if I’d carried a rusty 1972 Winnebago on them from California to Virginia. My arms are feeling twitchy. Even my toes feel too sore to move. I probably shouldn’t mention I was up and out of bed at 2:30am this morning as well. Just one of those nights when you can’t seem to relax I guess. I really need to sleep. Yet no matter how tired I feel, I feel rejuvenated every time I touch the water. Just rolling away or being absolutely silly. Yep, I do sort of feel like I’ve been run over by a truck and it feels wonderful. It feels good to beat away at something for days on end and finally see a victory. It started out a bit shakey but I’ve finally got that headstand working. doable and repeatable. And I feel good. . . I knew that I would . . . ;)

that’s awesome! watch out Freya, here comes Derrick!

  • derrick says:

ha! I wish. . Should have seen me working on that paddle on the head, get out of the cockpit and stand thing. What a total mess that was. Ha! But . . maybe with time. We’ll see. :)

  • Russ says:

Way to go Derrick! Are you able to recover back into the cockpit too?

One thing is notably obvious- Freya has much nicer legs. :o )

  • derrick says:

Yeah, no doubt Ms. H looks 100 times better doing it. :) I’m just happy to be able to pull it off at all. :)

The recovery is pretty simple since you come back down on the back deck. What I need to do now is just work on time & conditions. 1 errant wave and I’m over!

You’re gonna have to put that Anas Acuta up if you can’t play properly with it.

OTOH, you may be one of the first kayakers to begin to get tan legs.

Yawn…just another picture of Derrick with his head up his boat :)

    That’s wild.
Between the rolls and the balance tricks you’re going to have a pretty low mileage boat.

  • derrick says:

Yeah, my actua does not go to far. I was saying once there was no point putting a compass in it since it does not go anwhere. :) As much as I love my Acuta it says home if I’m doing milage. Then it’s time to get my Explorer out. . .

My Explorer would would turn it’s nose up at this kind of sillyness. :-) )

    …!!!Sexy Hexy!!!…

Pointed toes, shaved legs, skirt’s up – I’ll suggest you to join me at “Who’s sexy and why”, where a certain “Mean Old Man” was posting some of my pics :-) )

Anyway, Derrick – I’m proud of you!

After a certain Mr. C.C. was close to imitate me on the “last glance” pic in October’s 2005 Sea Kayakers issue you did a way better job on that!

And now – spread your legs, go down on the paddle tips, and DON’T BREAK Don’s precious stick! Hands off then…there must be still a challenge… :-) )

I just figured a new style of upside down paddeling…stay like that, and start to PADDLE!

…oh, I was overlooking the pics of the 29th of June! Some similarities to Mr. C.C.’s tries! Chicken wings or chicken legs?

Ey, Derrick, you do impress me how you keep on trying and are finally very successfull!! Good job!
I wonder if you are the first *guy* with a perfect elegant headstand in the kayak?

  • derrick says:

    Thank you Freya. .

ah, shaved legs? LOL!! It does look like that in the picture. Lighting trick I think. Hmmm, don’t think i’m inspired to really do it though. Did shave once for a play many years ago. No fun when it starts coming back!
