Tilting At Waves

what is beauty?

Posted by derrick on July 31, 2006

Beauty of whatever kind,
in its supreme development,
invariably excites the sensitive soul to tears.
~ Edgar Allen Poe~

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder . . .

One of the interesting things you can do with a website is see the words or phrase people used when they found you through a search engine. Yesterday someone who came to KayakWisconsin, had searched the term; “merkel bathing picture“. Proof positive that George Bush knows how to use the Internet!

Beauty is only skin deep. . .

So, I’m learning gelcoat repair. I’ve completed my first couple attempts and hope to have a more detailed write-up for you on that later in the week. Surprisingly it was not as bad as I had feared.

Let the beauty we love be what we do . .

I’ve not shared much about kayak goddess. . or as RW would say “Jedi Mistress” Justine Curgenven recently. . but then we wouldn’t want to ‘gossip’ would we!?? ;-) But on the other hand, she did just return from a great paddling adventure AND kept a blog as well. So check that out if you haven’t already.

Beauty is; “hot kayaks and fast . . . .” (choose your own noun)

Today’s (top) picture may look strangely familiar. It’s Bill Gwynn’s new Anas Acuta! Happily it finally arrived. The poor guy has been forced to visit our little kayak wonderland on a regular basis to get his AA fix while he waited. All this time looking at mine and thinking. . “hmmm, I bet it’ll look smashing in red!!”. Very nice. Congratulations Bill!

Oh, and for all you Mon-Fri folks there were a few posts over the weekend you may want to check out. (Yes, I did get out and paddle as well, thank you!!)

- Rotem Ron Does it!
- Trouser Shouts
- Quiscalus
- Moral Aptitude

( you can’t say we don’t get variety around here, LOL!!)

* Thanks to Bill for letting me repost his picture.

  1. KayakHandy Said,

Fiberglass boats are so FUGLY and heavy…why don’t you guys just start building SOF’s for that real beauty and performance that goes much deeper than the skin.

I know it’s that eye of the beholder garbage you are going to ham hock about

Great blog site by the way, I enjoy very much!

  2. derrick Said,
