mischievous trees

Invariably the first measurable snow fall comes down in a big wet slushy mess. Then, when it’s over, the wind changes. The world is washed in cold wind and damp. It’s refreshing. It’s right then that the trees get mischievous. They throw snowballs at you. It wouldn’t be so bad, but they always seem to hit you square on the top of the head.

You too? They always get me on my bald spot.

Shoot, trees around here are smart.* They drop a little one on me, just enough to wonder if it was one, then the big one comes when I look up.

    *or maybe I’m not…

Take one step to the left :)

No, take TWO steps to the left, as we all should.

And, as a fellow bald guy (with Tillerman), if we don’t have our hat on, we’re the first to know when it starts to rain, or snow, or the geese are flying over head. Actually a sea gull once got me as I was walking to class early one morning at Patrick AFB back in 1972–had my ice cream man uniform on (navy tropical whites) ruinned my shirt! What a mess!!!! And, I made the mistake of looking up–second shot missed my eye by a lash.
