On Monday I took advantage of a beautiful, unseasonably warm day to paddle around my little lake. Something I hate to say has become sort of boring as of late. But the wind was howling out of the south producing a nice chop and occasional waves a foot or so high were slapping in and around the quartzite boulders that litter the shore. I took advantage and slid in tight to the rocks, weaving in and out in a little game of “don’t kill the boat”. I often wonder what this place must have looked those long millennia ago when these boulders were still the girders of tall islands rising from the inland sea. It’s sandy bottom is still visible frozen in rocks. It takes little effort to find stones with the wavy signature of a shallow ocean floor frozen into it’s surface. In Wisconsin what separates us from the ocean is not just distance, but time.

Been there…hell, I am there
Amazing! I was just looking at my photo ID from my EMT job–it was made 7 months ago–I thought to my self “Do I really look like that?” It looks like the top of my head is missing (from the eyes up)!!! They use a white background (should be blue like my other job)–my bald head blends rignt in with the white background–and what’s not bald is grey.
Oh well, I’ll be getting a new ID soon as I’m moving up in responsibility, and they redo the IDs every year too. My shoulders hurt from lifting obese patients, other than that, I’m not feelin’ it though.
Well, there’s one argument for dying your hair; White backgrounds!! LOL!!
Well, Dick If I hold together as well as you I won’t have to change my profile picture in a very long time.
I doubt I’ve got the genetics though. Fat and Bald is the flavor of the day round here!!
So you’ve got two out of three. . .
thanks for that. I really like you too. . .
You guys ought to wait til you’re really old, like me. I had to really search for a picture that looked like what I thought I looked like. There didn’t seem to be any. So I just used something really dark so even I wouldn’t be able to tell I was getting up there… Besides, isn’t it supposed to be all in your mind?
You’re feeling it but you’re not looking it!
Don’t worry!
I’m younger today than I was 30 years ago, I just don’t look it. Perhaps my mind isn’t as sharp though, but then again–maybe it never was as sharp as I thought it was then. . . but then again—-
I’ve found as I get older a little selective forgetfulness is good. Otherwise how could I always be right?
Our brain is like an iceberg, only room for so many penguins. . . when a new one wants on one has to leave. Like a full hard drive. . . the brain gets full so we have to forget some stuff (move/delete that file) so new can be added.
