On November 26, 1977 a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command took over the transmitters of Southern Television in the UK for about 5 minutes starting exactly 5:12 pm. In amongst deep static and an overwhelming hum came the voice of Vrillion,

“This is the voice of Vrilon, a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command, speaking to you. For many years you have seen us as lights in the skies. We speak to you now in peace and wisdom as we have done to your brothers and sisters all over this, your planet Earth.”

On November 26, 2006 the average number of UK visitors to KayakWisconsin.net overtook the average number of Canadians visiting our little blogger planet. Equally as monumental I’m sure. A leaning toward British boats maybe?? Can I infer that I’m not saying enough nice things about Current Designs?? No wait, they’re American now aren’t they!? Oh, never mind. . .

“The time of conflict is now past. The race of which you are a part may proceed to the highest planes of evolution if you show yourselves worthy to do this. You have but a short time to learn to live together in peace and goodwill.” – Vrillon

I think you need to start saying more nice things about Impex and Seaward/Nigel Foster kayaks to get our northern neighbors to start visiting again.

LOL! I was thinking Nimbus myself!!

I don’t think our Canadian friends are going away, just more Brits stopping by. :-) )

    Derrick, Greetings from Glasgow, UK.

The logs on my web site, Scottish Sea Kayaking Photo Gallery and blog, seakayakphoto.com show that interest in seakayaking enjoys few international frontiers. Its distribution seems limited more by the wealth of nations than distance from the sea.

    Douglas :o )

    Hey Douglas,

    Love your site too. :)

I agree. It’s obviously based on who can get out and kayak, have access to the net and so forth. Otherwise our top referral would always be china I think :) May be soon enough!

The sea kayaking community in the UK is finally grasping the concept of blogging. The number of new UK based sea kayak blogs in the past three months has been incredible. Wealth sadly has much to do with the accessibility of the sport to people and nations.
