And who knows which is which and who is who.

Interesting. Getting children ready for school in the morning is somewhat like roping a twister. I think some hero of western Americana was able to do that once, so I assume it’s possible. So there we are roaming around the house in our metal skins, arms outstretched and hands spinning. We were tickle bots! Obviously other unwitting family members we at risk. At one point I turned and prepared to attack Gryphon. Quickly he yelled, “But dad we’re the same!!” Oh, I said, “You mean we should only attack people who are different?”. “Yes!” he yelled giggling away. That stuck in my head as he headed out the door into the frozen world. “This must be where it all starts.”, I thought.

It seems like I’m continuously trying to explain to my daughter our global events. It’s hard because I can’t hide it from her, but I can’t rationalize the majority of it either. She said to me back in 2001, “Can’t everyone see that we’re all the same?” She was 4 then and understood what those with the power and the obligation fail to. At what age do we unlearn these truths?

Sadly, it seems like there’s room for un update to Sting’s “Russians.”

    I’m awful. I just say they’re all bloody lunatics! :-) )

Great job Derrick, you just wrecked your kid. Now what will you do? I suppose you’ll take the kayakers’ excuse and roll it off.

Seriously, you do wonder where the lunatics come from. As a teacher, I always looked out at the kids in the class and wondered that very thing, but in 30 years I never came to a satisfactory answer. I’d like to believe that maintaining a close family which supported and cared for each other was the best route to take, even though it is sometimes hard to do. I suspect you already know that…
