days of sun

children, wake up
hold your mistakes up before they turn the summer into dust.
if the children don’t grow up
our bodies get bigger, but our hearts get torn up
we’re just a million little gods causing rain storms
turning every good thing to rust. – the arcade fire
Now that yesterday’s rain removed the snow It will be time to get out on the trails again and actually start building up that stamina I’ll need for Peurto Rico. Time for focus. Soon the ice will come off the water and I can start putting in real distance in my boat. My warhorse will have to stand surrogate as my personal trainer until I get my new Rockpool in May. Funny that. Companies compete. They must. Yet some, the good ones, show a level of comradery that I respect in business. They realize that you just love each boat or paddle or whatever for their own personality. My Explorer raised me in sea kayaking. It’s my buddy. Even saved my hide a couple times when I was too stupid to know what I was doing. Never, never try landing on a break wall in knarly waves. Bad choice. Really!
Spring as the old cliché goes is a time for new beginnings. It removes the ice from the world, erases the dirty streets of winter and opens up a chance for a new life. Something frankly I’m desperate for. This is the summer of change for me. Adventure and new choices. I need to grow up all over again. I intend to explore the world, life & love with a zealous hunger I’ve not had in years. What’s out there? Who’s out there? What’s this life all about?
Let’s find out. . . Together!
