Yellow

Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
Yeah they were all yellow

Talked to my friends at Trak Kayaks a bit recently. You’ll see they started a blog themselves now. That’s cool. I think if companies can run blogs that just keep you informed without too much "Hype" it’s a good thing. They’ve been doing a good job at that I think. Just letting you know what’s going on in the TRAK world. Including the new color. Not that we have anything against green of course. :) My "BlackTrak" will be arriving soon as well with one little change in that we’re going for a white hull with a black deck. Sounds pretty sharp to me! I told Simon Osborn of Sea Kayaking Cornwall that I was planning to bring it over to the UK so they could test it there. His response. . "Ohh, a kayak to break!!" Now guys………………………… LOL! This is actually one of the best parts of working with Trak. A chance to show off a really strong, unique design that often surprises us "hardcore" dudes. Ok then, as the song goes, "Hit me with your best shot!" (well, within reason anyway! LOL!!)

By the way the current set up record is now 5:01 minutes. Not bad for a folder. Not bad at all!

Wait, didn’t you break the boat simply paddling it in the pool? I’m putting my money on Simon that he could break it in the tidal races or by surfing it down on some big rocks!

Heck, let me race the Trak boat in next week’s Kettle River whitewater race! I’ll hand you back the pieces when I’m done! (People are taking sea kayaks down it but I’m hoping for their sake it’s plastic sea kayak!)

LOL! No, I just popped a snap. One of the things that the designer addressed actually.

It’s a tough skinned boat, but I’m not sure whitewater is the goal. LOL!

  • derrick says:

oh and speaking of breaking things. . . I’m not sure about Simon, but I’m sure you’d find a way. :) )

  • Alex says:

You betcha! Actually, seeing some of those incredible SOF qajaq stress test videos, I wouldn’t be surprised if the TRAK kayak would be tougher in certain situations than a composite. The nylon skin flexes with impact so the stress isn’t placed on a single spot. I’d argue though that a well made SOF or Yost folder would probably be equally as impact resistant.

The funny thing regarding whitewater is that it looks like Trak is sponsoring Ken Whiting or something since according to their blog, he took the TRAK down some class III whitewater and had some favorable comments. Ken’s one of my whitewater heros who recently has turned his focus on sea kayaking as well.

oh and the picture isn’t showing up on this particular blog. I don’t see yellow! (feel free to delete this post after you fix the image thing.)

  • derrick says:

Yeah, that’s true. Ken has been putting it through it’s paces too. I know they sort of told him the same thing they told me. “Go for it”. LOL! I know Ken took it through some prety rough surfing as well.

    Hopefully the pic is fixed.
