Well Olaus McLeod is paddling a surfboard from Lands End in Cornwall, UK to the Scilly Isles and back! Oh, and his tossing in a little marathon in the middle. No wonder he called his adventure "To Hell and Back". It looks to me to be about 25 miles or 21 nm worth of open water crossing (each way) off the most westerly point in the UK. . . on a surfboard. . . oh. . . joy! Olaus is taking donations and raising money for Cystic Fibrosis and the RNLI in the UK. For us Americans the RNLI is the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. The guys who keep us safe on the water.

Anyway, I thought if you were feeling like you were working too hard today you may want to just have a thought toward Olaus who at this moment is getting the ride of his life. . .

It’s the Royal National life boat Institute; very much independent of the Navy or other government department. That’s why we like it so much.

We’ve only had one callout in over 20 years, so I think you’ll probably be OK! It’ll still be fun though!
Note to self – remember to capture the look on Derrick’s face when he hits Penrhyn Mawr for the first time!! Tee hee!

I have been on numerous of Rowland’s “kayak classes of death”. I am still alive… I think I am… At sometime I got a Sweatwater Kayaks “Paddle or Die” t-shirt; I am still paddling, I think I am… Apart from the occasional swimming that is. Anyway I see that Rowland is allowed “outside” again and I am looking forward to be paddling with him in Anglesey. I will be “on a high”. Could be because of the glue vapours that I am currently working in, but I do not think so. Weekend is coming up
) and upcoming Wednesday I am heading to Anglesey for a pre-symposium club paddle. Rowland has a reputation to keep and sure Derrick, he will have a ‘victim’ now
