I am NOT afraid of flying. Just thought I’d say that. But the media wants me to be. And just like paddling out in to a big surf I plan to control unreasonable fear. It makes me angry that we should be fed this prejudice. It’s not right and not fair to our brothers and sisters of other cultures and races. We’re all in this life together after all. Truth be told, these wars and battles of idealisms are the battles of people who some how have power in our world. Not our battles. Most of us, of all race and culture just want to get up, enjoy the day, play with our kids, find good work, fall in love, and otherwise enjoy life. If you ask me it’s when you start giving into cultural and racial prejudice that’s when the extremists in power on both sides of the ocean win. I won’t give them my soul.

Ok so a couple nights ago I watched the “Axis of Evil” comedy tour. What a great way to talk about the feelings we’ve been sharing here in America. I can’t help but think about it as I get ready for my flight tomorrow. Our world has become so crazy. The press keeps drumming up the fears and you find yourself having to fight the feelings they put in your head. Suddenly you find yourself getting on planes and looking around you with some twisted made-for-television imagination. How stupid. Well, it was great to watch the show. Instead of letting the media make flights scary you feel like turning to the guy named Ahmed behind you and saying, “life’s a bitch, isn’t it!?? I’m truly sorry”.

I don’t hate or fear just because I’m told to. I can think for myself.

I’m not afraid of flying.

    Ooooh! Harsh!

    (but funny!)

    I’m just bummed out that I probably won’t be able to pack for shorter trips to warmer climates (like Hawaii, next week Wednesday, yay!) in a carry on any more.
