Dirty Laundry

Well, it makes my teeth hurt to have to write this blog.
Apparently I’m in for a flogging. My first thought was to let it go. But as John Kerry learned, sometimes you must respond. As I mentioned on the “Chasing The Ana” blog, Wendy K is off the team. I chose not to share reasons, discussions, or anything else. In fact I chose to compliment her and her abilities. Wendy decided to make a public statement that suggested that I was un-trustworthy. I’m sure you would not be surprised that I may have a different view. However, I’m not going to go there. The paddling world is a small community and the truth and character of everyone in it are well known. I’m quite happy to reside in that world. But I do invite you to read her statement and follow up comments, and will only say that I certainly wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors.
Now, where did I leave my paddle??

Hello Derrick I just read both yours and Wendys blog this a.m.and am very disappointed as well as confused here?
Is this true you never called or e mailed her about this change in personnel ? That she actually had to find out by reading the Chasing Ana sight? If so why would you do that Derrick?
Your response was very vague and sounding almost political? You are at your choice whether you like it or not a somewhat celebrity in the kayak world. You have a responsibility to your readers (I feel) to the truth about this issue. Otherwise trust me here this will go nowhere good.

Hey, Derrick, don’t you recall, you broke your paddle in Wales… You might be able to borrow one off Silbs or JB, or, best of all, use that flashy Novorca one (wear your sunblock and dark glasses however)!

I know you and I know the situation. I honor you for taking the high road.
I think that its great Silbs that you and Derrick know the situation. Also that he has apparently honarably taken the High road. But you know I read his blog every day and feel he has an obligation to his readers as well as his partner in an expedition to let her at least know personally to what was up. Unless she is outright lieing about this. Is this the case? Jim
