hey douglas, yeah I wanna see that issue too. I'm hoping it's waiting for me in PR. LOL!

Alex, It actually has a skeg, well mine does. It's got quite a bit of rocker and tracks ok, but it's pretty nimble actually. A skeg is a good thing to have with this boat.

Yeah I'd like to try your new one too. You know, I've not even seen you do your straightjacket! LOL

Actually if it has that kind of "up" that I particularly like in rolling kayak (driven by combination of low back deck, flatter hull, increased rocker, and kayak width) I'm sure I'd love it. As for traditional rolls, if it rolls nice in general, it'll work fine with traditional rolls. One of these days, you'll have to try my latest SOF rolling kayak which Chris Gmeinder made and sold to me. It's definitely an eye opening experience and it really is pretty ridiculous. I daresay it's even a better roller than Freya's Qanaaqq SS!

As for the Alaw Bach, while I love the aesthetic of the boat, I wonder how the stern releases with that integrated skeg. Is it a hard tracker? That sharktail look definitely looks to have taken some cues from the ever popular 1935 Sisimuit qajaq (http://capefalconkayak.com/1935sisimuit.html).

Hello Derrick, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine! I was lucky enough to get one of the very first Rockpools. There is a photo of my daughter paddling it on page 24 of issue 1 of Ocean Paddler.
:o)

yeah Alex, you'll have to try it. Remember you telling me about the outer island rolling you back up because of it's shape? I think this might be something like that, it just seems to bring you back up. So from that aspect it's quite nice. I'm sure some traditional rolls would still be a bit iffy, but for what it is, it rolls like a dream.
