Pacific Horizons Available Now

Hey kid, rock and roll
Rock on, ooh, my soul
Hey kid, boogey too, did ya?

I’m not sure if sitting her under a dim yellow lamp and listening to Mendelssohn is the perfect atmosphere to write about this new DVD. One thing is sure, this gray November weather does make me want to watch it.
Pacific Horizons, is a new DVD from west coat kayaker and filmmaker Bryan Smith. It’s his first foray into the kayaking DVD market and as far as I can tell, the first shot in HighDef. His film takes us on a journey around the northwest coast of the United States and includes segments such as; Dubsides “Commando Kayaking”, The Bunsby Islands with the folks at Body Boat Blade, Keirron Tastagh & Jeff Norvill’s 14 day circumnavigation of Vancouver, The Columbia River Gorge, exciting tidal race play, beautiful Skooks footage and much more.
The big stand out with Bryan’s film is the amazing video quality. I was lucky enough to watch some rough cuts earlier in the year and was truly blown away. It’s no surprise that Pacific Horizons was chosen as a finalist for the 2007 Banff Mountain Film Festival. It’s just that good.
Available for purchase just in time for the holidays, Pacific Horzions joins a growing genre of “World Tour” sea kayak films . DVD’s like his and of course Justine’s “This Is The Sea” series, seek to take us around the world of sea kayaking and provide a video digest of the most recent events. Done well, I can see these films becoming a staple of any sea kayaker’s video library. Well, certainly mine anyway! They also serve to inspire new comers to the sport as to where they may want to travel in the future and to what is possible given time and practice. I doubt the new wave of sea kayak play boating would have ever taken off so quickly without these sorts of DVDs showing us what is possible with a long boat.

Pacific Horizons will begin shipping on November 22, so as I said it’s number one on my kayaker Christmas list this year. Tomorrow, (if i don’t get distracted) I will give you the rest of my Christmas list for sea kayakers in the family. Chances are they don’t want another refrigerator magnet.

Looks great. I couldn’t see on the site if it comes in PAL. Any idea?
Good question. I’ll zip out an email and ask. BTW, I found your blog today and added it to my big blog list. Nice. Thanks for the feed.
Thanks for the link. It’s a big help. I was inspired by your move to WordPress to do the same. Plus my IT guy gave me a shove. It makes a big difference.
