Yeah well, when I was taking French 101 in High school I aways thought, “What will I ever use this for??”. Little did I know that had I paid more attention I could have better understood Steve Martin’s jokes and of course been able to read Charles’s website. Wait, does that say Pacific Horizons?? Apparently the phrase, “Rock On!” is the same in any language! If by chance you speak French you might enjoy this website at www.soireesaventures.com.

The French are wonderful adventurers! I was at a festival of French adventure films last week. One film was made by two giddy young ladies on a 1000+ km walk-about in Madagasgar. Totally fun and when I think some Brits are paddling there at the moment, it was a great intro to the place. Another film was about a solo climber in Nepal with cuts back and forth between him on the howling mountain-side and his wife cozy-sweet at home in France. Creepy feling to that one. Finally, there was a wild Russian made motorcycles-with-sidecars barreling around on the ice of Lake Baikal, another paddling venue. Totally crazy thing to do, but the French again prevailed together with their Russians hosts and ample vodka toasts. So, forget language barriers, always go and see French adventure films. They’re like nothing else!
