Sectional Hand Rolls

Ok. That’s just silly! Yeah, the mid-section is easy to roll. . . The trick is just staying up right in the end! (yeah the offside was not part of the plan) I’ve added a clip to the Video Section under “Strange Kayak Moments” near the bottom of the videos page.

OMG ! you have lived out one of my fantisies, I’ve sat in the mid section of my sectional Nordkapp and dreamt of messing around in it just for fun but since I don’t own it (long story) and the only time it’s in front of me is when I’m packing it up to ship it off some place or when I’m at that awful (but lovely) place and have to get in it and paddle it I’ve never been able to live out my mid section fun session fantasy!

Okay you guys, enough. If I break a paddle I will go to a roll with a split. If I lose it, with a Norsak and, if necessary a hand roll. But I know deep in my heart that if my Romany breaks into 3 pieces I am bailing out.
Derrickquix: I think you have some nice new experience with your sectional, and as someone considering one, I certainly would appreciate your input about sectionals in general. Perhaps you could consider a post with your respected opinion about sectionals: how hard are they to put together (esp the latched Rockpool). How heavy is it in total, and each piece. How does the skeg work? Any compromises with footpegs, et cetera. Any performance compromise in paddling it–ayd flex, hull instability at joints? How much to fly it; surcharges, how to protect for flight. Your reviews and opinions are always respected, Derrickquix, and I see no worthy reviews of the sectional concept itself online (except RobG’s review of his Nordkapp sectional on Pnet reviews, where he gives the sectional concept a “5″of 10–ouch–and he has already sold the boat to tsunamichuck).
Just for your consideration.
Happy Holidays.
