come and go like water

the moment’s come and go like water
i try to hold them but they’re fading
oh my head sounds like that

As I write this, thunder shakes the old cinder block walls of my home as lightning fills the night with the milk white skies.  There’s still snow everywhere from mounds over 4 feet down into valleys of snow only 2 feet deep.  Heavy rains poor down into the lemon ice slush. Occasionally in areas shoveled through the winter, a small bit of frozen spiderweb grass appears under a Frisbee sized lake that becomes transparent under an atmospheric flash.

We went out to the park today and walked along the frozen shore.  Mostly snow, mostly wet.  Here and there bits of the beach have become barren and exposed.  Still, it won’t last.  Tonight these heavy rains will again change over to snow. We expect up to 4 more inches of white by morning.  I can only again remind myself that it is March.  The snow will eventually give way.  The season’s do change.

I love the sound of thunder.
