Kayak Klutter

Nothing like a little mid-day post!  The morning started out a bit crazy as I had an 8am client meeting which of course means getting organized for that at the same time you’re trying to get a kid off to school. Crazy times!  While dusting around my office I was just taking in all the kayak stuff that seems to fill every corner, shelf and floor space.  Truth be told I tend to collect trinkets anyway. Please someone tell me I’m not the only one with a room full of kayak clutter!!!

Speaking of clutter, I’ve also been busy trying to work out my summer paddling season.  Between teaching, trips, symposiums, and my real job it’s a bit like air traffic control.  It looks like I’m going to attend about 5 symposiums this summer. I signed up this morning to do an instructor training program with Shawna Franklin & Leon Somme’ before the WMCKA symposium at the end of May and then just a few minutes ago I confirmed a trip to the Qajaq Training Camp in Michigan.  That’s exciting.  I hope they let me in even if I don’t have a Tuiliq!

This cracks me up!  Still sitting on my shelf is this bottle of Tesco sunblock.  I guess I should use it sparingly. It would be a heck of a hike to get another bottle!

Oh, and for something completely different. . . Simon Willis, who publishes a great blog by the way, posted a video first impression review of his new Werner paddles.  Check that out here.

Alrighty then, I should get back to work!

You’re not the only one with kayak clutter, I would venture to say I have more clutter than you (just ask Oz).

Now about that bottle of sunblock, check the expiration code, I’d replace those more than a year old . . . the consequences are not worth it (six spots removed from the top of my head last year, now two removed from my face a few weeks ago).

yeah, the sunblock is just a prop these days to remind me about a day when I was roaming Tescos trying to find sausage rolls and mars bars! The sunblock was impulse spending!

Sweet dude. It’s great to hear that you’ll be going to Qajaq TC. It’s been too long since we paddled together and we definitely need to get some more Greenland rolls added to your repetoire.

As for WMCKA, I was really tempted to teach there this year but the drive from Minnesota is pretty epic and I think I’m headed up to Canada that weekend to surf some big (HUGE) waves. Mommy!

Without the inland sea symposium this year, I’m not sure how many sea kayaking syposiums I’ll be able to hit if any. Maybe I can help out at GLSKS but for the most part its all whitewater and G-style (Canoe-U, Qajaq TC, the Gathering, and Delmarva).

It looks like its gonna be a good season of whitewater so hit me up if you ever want to paddle some wisconsin or minnesota rivers. We need to put a few more scratches in your Pyrahna.
