Staying Dry – T4 In Chicago

Yesterday we headed south to Chicago to watch Justine Curgenven’s premiere presentation of her new sea kayaking action and adventure video, This Is The Sea 4. The event was hosted and organized by Geneva Kayak Center and held at the ornate Arcada Theater in Downtown St. Charles IL.
Justine presented a special “Premiere Edit” which lasted just over an hour and included bits from both T4 DVDs as well as some footage not included in the original DVD. At the Arcada theater the movie was displayed on large theater screen using the in house sound system which provided the audience with a unique perspective of the film. As we all know, watching DVD’s at home is fine, but seeing a film on the “Big Screen” is a completely different experience. Certainly one had a much more dramatic feel for the high mountains of Norway or the rushing torrents of the Ottawa River. Having watched the video quite a bit already, it was still great to see it in such a large format.

Part of the proceeds of the event went to support Chicago Adventure Therapy which was founded by local paddler, Andrea Kneppler. Adventure therapy uses personal guidance and outdoor experience to treat issues that affect an individual’s sense of self worth and provide experiences that foster a sense of empowerment and personal responsibility.
After the event we all headed next door to the Dog & Duck Pub. Which is the main reason I didn’t get to posting until this evening! (so much for personal responsibility) We managed to get to sleep sometime in the wee hours of the morning and yet were up by 7am to make the drive back north to Wisconsin. I won’t bother to tell you about the sudden appearance of antifreeze on the parking lot pavement when we arrived in Madison. . .
Anyway, here’s some more pictures from the event;
