Yeah that's the point Dave. By not posting her exact whereabouts they are saving some poor loony from certain annihilation.

Personal Safety? Let's just say I'd be afraid for the person with less than honorable intentions, not her ;-) I'd hate to have to arm wrestle her in a crowded bar!

Well,

i did give a email to Freya a few weeks ago about my experience with the SPOT. (I used it last year during my 5 month kayaktrip, through several countries.)
I also told her, maybe a good idea for your own safety to publish your where-abouts with 24 hour delay. To protect yourself from unwanted visitors. meaning people who have bad things in mind.
i think nothing wrong with this precaution. And the audience did respect me for that. As we stated on the website we publish the SPOT with 24 four hour delay.
It's just like preparing yourself for a trip at sea... it helps to think ahead and do this kind of planning so you feel comfortable about your safety. One thing less to worry about. Safety is not only at sea, but for the whole trip.

happy paddles Freya!

Great thing Freya gives us something to talk about while she is paddling to a different position.

Yeah, there are certainly two sides. It seems to me there is also an issue of personal safety involved as well. The problem with 24/7 tracking is not only that nice people know where you are, but so do all the not so nice people.
