Happy New Year

My new year can start whenever I dam well say it does. I mean, what is “New Years” really but an arbitrary moment in time where we can take stock of our life and make adjustments as we move forward? Certainly if New Years Day had some cosmic real world meaning it would be held on a solstice right? So let’s resolve make our new years start whenever we darn well feel the urge. Mine starts now. Now, because I sort of know how I want my new year to go. I’ve sort of got a plan. Now I’m back to running the muddy trails, making time to go rolling, marking down summer events, planning my next big trip and all that other stuff that comes with a new year for paddling nuts. That’s not to say things won’t go strange. They always do. That’s the beauty of life. But still we have to have a vision just to get out the door.

What you’re really looking for is a life re-set button. When things aren’t going well, or you need to make a clean (mental) break, you can press the button, draw a new line in the sand, turn over the leaf, use whatever metaphor suits you, and figuratively, start anew. Sometimes all the little details and time-suckers that we pick up as necessary, need to be pushed back and let go. Of course, that lasts for a few minutes, a few hours, maybe even a few days, but sooner or later, the small stuff comes back looking for you, like a hungry mosquito, and you get sucked back in. Could be worst.
good comment paul.
