In The Rain

I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown,
for going out, I found, was really going in. -John Muir
There is no better way to experience the world around you than on a cool, foggy rainy day. Yesterday we went out to Devil’s Lake State Park and strung a few trails together to cover just about 6 miles of woods, marsh and of course high cliffs. Somewhere in there under a rock ledge we managed a damp picnic where the only sound was that of a near by crow.

I said I cannot hear you, you’re breaking up

I don’t know. Sometimes I get a bit tired of all the social media chatter. Mine too, to be honest. Occasionally I think you have to put it all in perspective. Especially when you live or work at a computer and are simply too close to it all. Face booking, blogging, twittering, twibing and whatever else popped last night while I slept do have their good sides. I’m reminded however of an article I read recently about companies struggling for content these days. It seems we’re on a chattering arms race while many are simply struggling to find something original to say. Sometimes I think it’s a good idea to just shut it all down and listen to the thunder rumbling outside the window. Now THAT is something you don’t want to miss.

I’m testing out this new plugin for the site that takes the blurbs I post to Twitter and compiles them here into one neat post each night as I sleep. The trick is getting it to work properly… Why do a Twitter Digest? Well, most of you don’t’ bother with Twitter.. which is cool by me, but I tend to put those “one off” links there and then they never manage to make a blog post. The Digest hopefully will let me archive an occasional tid-bit lost in the twittering din. Take that bit about the Cetus LV for instance…
- Good Morning. Enjoying the moment before I read the news, check email, & before the phone rings. When all is still right with the world. 07:29:52

P&H Bahiya

And you balance your world on the tip of your nose
like a SeaLion with a ball, at the carnival.

So yesterday I talked a bit about how I found myself test paddling a new kayak. Again I have 2 great kayaks but they are both no longer sea worthy. I could just get a new version of one of these or I can use the opportunity to see if there is something out there I’m missing. At the moment I’m familiarizing myself with the P&H Kayak line which I’ve not really looked at before. Yesterday I test paddled the P&H Bahiya. This is not a review of the Bahiya however. A review is meant to tell you what YOU should buy. A completely different thing than choosing what I should buy… which you may guess is an attempt at humor for the non-inferentially-challenged.
