This weekend the first of what should be an annual paddle party will be held in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. The day will include kayak exhibits, a 2k race event, food, boat tours, live music and a kayak clinic presented by your truly.  The event is the brain child of Easton Dreher, owner of Vertical Illusions Outdoor Center in Wisconsin Dells.  This event marks a major victory for Easton who is screaming into the wind to revive community and visitor excitement in the wonder of Wisconsin Dells natural beauty which has been lost behind hotel towers and under all inclusive water park complexes.

If you are in the area be sure to come join the party, and spend the day learning more about kayaking and taking in the natural beauty of Upper Wisconsin Dells. We expect a warm 72 f day which should make conditions fantastic. You can find more information at the Dells Stewards website.  I’ll also be twittering away live from the event as I have free time,  and my roving band of camera nuts out and about so we can share some pics next week as well.

One thing worth noting is that this new event has a lot of attention and support in the Wisconsin Dells area which as we know is a center of mid-west tourism.  I hope in time more outdoor shops and vendors will jump in and support Easton and the Dells Riverfest event.  Talking to Easton today I couldn’t help but think of  various companies that would benefit from attending.  I hope they they can connect with Easton between now and next years event.  As it is I’ll be hauling up all the kayaks and paddling gear I can find myself.
