I’m sitting in a big comfy checkered couch at Schroeder’s Red Bank Coffeehouse in downtown Two Rivers, Wisconsin. We managed to leave home yesterday at noon exactly as planned. What was not planned was our drive down to Rutabaga to impulsively buy a new P&H Scorpio. The Scorpio is the plastic version of the Cetus and a perfect addition to our small fleet!
We set up our tents on the shore of Lake Michigan just as the sun was beginning to set. The weather is a bit cool so we were happy for our 3 season sleeping bags.
Have you noticed how much your travel agenda can be decided by access to power outlets and wifi? If not, your lucky!
This moring I was joined by my friend Horst who moved here from Germany some years ago and has many great storys to tell. Together we enjoyed a nice morning paddle in the warm sun and cold breeze. Later we took out the Scorpio to play in the waves. It’s an interesting boat once the following waves get up around a foot or more. I’ll talk more about that in a later post. At the moment everyone else is simply looking at me waiting to go to lunch…
Later!

Did you see yesterday’s news about Tom Brady (married to that beautiful woman Gesil sp?)–oh he’s the quarterback for some football team—anyway he capsized in a kayak and had to be rescued! LOL!!!
I was once told by an astrologer to stay away from Scorpio women. They were supposed to be too tumultuous a mix (I’m Aquarius). I wonder if that applies to Scorpio boats, although I’ve heard they are ‘stable’ boats…
And now the in depth field testing on that hull shape may begin… From comments and press it sounds like it will turn like an Anas Acuta, track like a Nordkapp HM, will be stable like an Aquanaut, and great in big seas like a Pintail… Can it do it all, really? It is going to be really interesting to see how your feelings about it evolve. Good fun to you!
