Paddle Scrabble

Lost in thought and lost in time
While the seeds of life and the seeds of change were planted
Outside the rain fell dark and slow

O.K., so I have to give a shout out to Sharon, Alec and the gang since I was so mean to them recently.. oh, and because they used the word “caguole” in their blog which is at least 45 points in paddle-blogger scrabble.  (There’s a bonus for using a real words that sound made up outside of the paddling world)  Meanwhile I’m still planning to paddle… Well, by planning I mean loosely considering what I’d need to paddle, down the Lower Wisconsin in the next week or so.  It always comes down to where the child will go.  Yeah, he could go along of course, but as the song says, “to everything there is a season..”.  Sometimes it’s the season to leave little Billy at grandmas.

BTW I just saw some pictures of the New P&H Delphin.. It’s a sea kayak with a sort of white water type hull thing going on.  There’s some mention of possibly, and I mean super rumor mill stuff, possibly seeing a dual skeg??  Of course I once heard a rumor that each new British kayak would come with a £20 note in the day hatch too. I spent 3 days with a flashlight, a dental mirror and a wire hanger trying to see if mine had stuck to the top…

See the report from SCK on the Kanumesse show in europe. They’ve got pics of a P&H boat with dual skeg. Not sure that it’s the delphin though.

I can neither confirm, nor deny the existence of a kayak with two skegs.

If it’s PS, they did a good job with the color variations around the two skeg boxes, i.e, the orange patterns aren’t the same. But you never know who’s got too much time on their hands.

    Just being a bit persnickety:
It is cagoule, and yes, WikiPedia has heard of it.

Is it just a plant to attract attention? Or “a concept”? Given their skeg issues, two skegs would be really tempting fate… On the other hand, IF it’s a real sea kayak, given the extended flat bottom and the rocker that boat appears to have, something drastic might be needed to help it attempt to go straight… looks like a strange cross between sea, surf and a bit of river… time will tell if it was a joke or not, maybe I’m all wrong and will eat crow… happened before…

  • derrick says:

Dominique the idea of eating crow brings me back to that Survivalman show.. but that’s another conversation.. I’ll give more details next week, but I know it’s not a plant..

Cagoule.. good thing we don’t play scrabble for money..

  • MarcP says:

    Cagoule? Bien oui.

It’s a popular word in French-speaking Quebec. It also seems that the Brits use it. Go figure. I’d wager they’d argue well over who invented the device AND the word. In reference to Wikipedia’s ideas about word use by location – Quebec is physically attached to North America, yet is actually in a dimension from another planet. Or so it would seem.

I was born there. I think.

    Happy paddlin’
