PostHeaderIcon International Sea Kayaking Award?

Imagine the coach saying, “In order to achieve the ISKA L5 level you will have to be able to disassemble and reassemble your Lendal 4 peice paddle in under 4.6 seconds”.  Sorry, that was just the first thing that went through my head when I thought of Nigel Dennis announcing a new international sea kayaking certification program.  Yup.  You did read that correctly.  I’ll leave it to other more investigative bloggers to ferret out the details.  For my part I want to begin ghost writing a draft of the new ISKA Coaches handbook…   “While other kayaks may be used, it is well under stood that Sea Kayaking UK kayaks are safer, faster, and better built than all other kayaks…”  There will be a test!..  Oh, and investigative types may want to start here.

Oh, dear – is beginning to sound like the martial arts crowd – more certifications than you can shake a stick (?paddle?) at. At least we don’t have competitions to go with it….yet….

  • hey man, just wanted to wish you happy holidays,
    fun and smiles…
great job with your blog, as usual.

Sounds like a good idea. He has a huge task ahead of him if he’s looking to create a worldwide infrastructure to teach his award. Otherwise, why not just use the ACA or BCU?

Worldwide ISKA certification except for Ireland ;-) )
    Happy Holidays!

This is all an elaborate early april fools joke right?

If not, I guess all the grumbling about the dinosaur-like pace of the new BCU has finally gained enough steam for someone to do something about it.

Still, a little ridiculous. We are all parts of the same elephant, there is really no need for a new certification system. BCU, ACA, Paddle Canada, the Martian sea kayakers association whatever. They are all good, all have their particular strengths and weaknesses.

If this is a joke…. ha ha ha ha ha, etc. My sides are splitting.

If this is not a joke…please, please…let it be a joke.

Watching drama unfold in the sea kayak community reminds me of two bald men fighting over a comb.
