Check out this pink Pyranah Fusion kayak.  I think the fusion, which is a bit of an old school boat brought up to date, is one of the few more distinctly “new” boats to come around in some time.   I need a respectable, non-playboat-river runner and the fusion might be the perfect beast. Luckily for most they come in other others.  As for me,  I’ve been pining for a pink “Hello Kitty” Special.  Notice the little black deck thingy.  That’s the $60 optional pod.  Looks a little like a black plastic counter cookie jar. :)

I have a Pyranha I:3 playboat btw.  I loved the I:3 because among other things, it actually rolls like a sea kayak.  In playboats that’s a little unique.  The I:3 was the perfect “pool” boat if you didn’t want to haul around the 17 footer.  The downside was that it started leaking through the drain plug (not around the drain plug).  I did check to find out what the best fix would be. Without going into details I came way learning that plastic kayaks are apparently not worth the effort and deemed easily disposable.  I can’t help but hear that ringing around my brain when I consider dropping $900 for a new one.. (again).

    Hey Derrick,

That pod is actually a kayaker’s racoon trap. You put a 22oz Tallboy of beer in the pod. The kayaker reaches in and grabs the beer but can’t pull his hand out…

    Now that’s funny!

I believe duct tape will solve your drain plug problem, if not the installation of a new drain plug. Just ask Silbs how we solved his end pour problem on the spot. :)

Will you be taking the pink beast out for a test paddle? I’ve got a 2nd hand Dagger Piedra for the pool, my spray skirt leaks like crazy. Stop it, you’re making me want boat #4 (:

Just plug up the drain plug hole permanently. You could either do a plastic weld to close it up or just plug it up with epoxy or something. It’s a little boat so it should be easy enough to just lift it over your head to empty it. Heck, my Jackson Allstar doesn’t even come with a drain plug since Eric Jackson doesn’t like putting holes in his boats.

Thanks for all the great ideas. Duct Tape sounds fun.. I love anything that calls for the handyman’s secret weapon.

Alex. That’s not a bad idea, however when it fills with water I can’t just lift or slide it out of the pool. I’ve tried before. On the other hand that might be at least good last resort. Better than just leaving it up on a shelf.

Yeah Kellie, I want to test paddle the fusion. I wanted to last year too. The problem is I don’t know where to find one that you can test paddle. I don’t remember seeing them at Rutabaga last year which is the only shop near me. I’ll have to find one of those reps and slip ‘em a bribe.. LOL!
