Where would you most like to paddle Hadas?

When all words fail she speaks
Her mix tape’s a masterpiece
Walks through the garden
so the roses can see
Oh I…have you got nothing to say
– ben folds

Today’s title was a question first raised by British Sea Kayaker extraordinaire, Jeff Allen. When I first read it over on the Sea Kayaking Cornwall website I supposed the sentence was deserving of a comma, something like, “Where would you most like to paddle, Hadas?” One way or the other, it’s always about the punctuation.  You can read more about how that question (which ever way it went) lead to a 6500 kilometer paddling adventure here.  That of course brings me to this…

Hadas Feldman of  Israel will be a featured speaker at the Ladies of the Lake Sea Kayaking Symposium held Aug 12-15th in Marquette, MI.  Hadas has an amazing paddling resume. Along with the the 2004 circumnavigation of the 4 main islands of Japan with Jeff Allen, she & Jeff joined Nigel Dennis and Pete Bray to circumnavigate South Georgia Island in 2005.  She has also circumnavigated Newfoundland, paddled the coast of Kamchatka with Justine Curgenven,  soloed the coast of Turkey and guided trips from Alaska to Greece. For some time now she has worked as instructor, guide and over-all den mother at the Optimist Kayaking Centre in Sdat Yam in Israel just a few paddle strokes from the ruins of the ancient seaside city of Cesarea.

Hadas is an amazing sea kayaker for sure, but more than that she’s something of an enigma as well.  She’s one of those few people who changes the atmosphere simply by walking in.  Suddenly the energy goes through the roof and the sun breaks through the the clouds, blue birds come out of nowhere and start to sing. . .  Sure, that sounds silly now, but you’ll see… Oh Man!

… and for no reason here’s Ben Fold’s doing a song called “Kate”

I’m thinking of going in drag to Ladies of the Lake to see Hadas, any other blokes daring enough to join me?

  • Marius says:

Chmmm, shouldn’t there be a comma in front of Hadas?
As to Keith’s suggestion – it is the clothes that make the man :)

  • derrick says:

Marius, ah I must be misreading something, isn’t that what I said? “Where would you most like to paddle, Hadas?” Placing the coma before her name???

  • Marius says:

    Derrick, you are absolutely right!

I’ve been trying to talk my wife into going to “Ladies” this year…so far she would rather visit with my daughter and her husband and our grandaughter…they are fling in from Iceland for a visit during that time…otherwise Keith…I’d be there :>)

  • keith wikle says:

Roy we all know you’ll show up to ladies anyway, you won’t even bother with the dress!

  • Roy says:

    actually…I usually wear a skirt….. made of a rubber-esk materal…Neoprene…does sound kinky, but it’s “the crowd” I travel in :>)

Hey Hadas, good to know you can be embarrassed!! LOL! I think Kelly Blades will be there too. I’d like to come, but I look really bad in a dress, heck even a Tuilik looks silly. :)
