There and Back

And we decided that one big pile is better than two little piles,
and rather than bring that one up
we decided to throw our’s down. – arlo guthrie

I was just reading David Johnston’s post all about Lendal’s return to the UK under the helm of Nigel & the gang at Sea Kayaking UK.. I won’t bother to quote it, you can read the post here.  In the process of reading David’s fine update, I clicked over to the Lendal Website.  I hadn’t been there in some time.  Funny thing, I never noticed their tag line before;  “LENDAL. THE BEST PADDLES. THERE AND BACK. “

It’s bad enough that the “There and Back” bit reads as totally tacked on, but given all that Lendal has been through it has the feel of an unwelcome punch line as well.   Thing is, I really liked Lendal Paddles and would love to see them restored to their former glory.  We can only hope Sea Kayaking UK is the one to do it and doesn’t turn out to be the last weak ledge along Lendal’s long fall down the chasm.

One Response to There and Back

  • Thanks so much for the article plug!

I agree with you. I hope that they do well but a year from now, we will see. It’s always about quality control and how well they can crank out the paddle shafts.

Looking at their website, I think it’s amazing that nobody has adjusted the footer to remove the Johnson Outdoors link. It’s still there after a month of website ownership.

Johnson also hasn’t technically transfered over the domain yet to SKUK. When one looks up the WHOIS record for the domain, it still has ownership with Johnson. Though not really a big deal, I’m just surprised that the business lawyers wouldn’t have had that all switched over by now…
