Goodbye Dear Friends…

Not long ago Sea Kayaking UK (Formerly Nigel Dennis Kayaks) posted this to their Facebook page: “Sea Kayaking UK and Lendal are looking for some up and coming sea kayakers, our aim will be a team of sponsored paddlers who will push the limits of sea kayaking, primarily skill based kayakers. “ I guess that means the old school has been put out to pasture…

So if YOU are a young up-and-comer… Let ‘em know! and for all you old timers who are paddling on into your autumn years… This one’s for you!

We’ll meet again
Don’t know where
Don’t know when
But I know we’ll meet again
Some sunny day
Keep smiling through
Just like you always do
‘Till the blue skies
Drive the dark clouds far away…

Yeah Right!

Hahahaha!! I know, totally! If they would have said looking to “add to” or “to join our team” it would have been at least kind! LOL!

Need to get you all T-shirts with the old NDK logo that says, “Old team paddlers never die.. we just ignore them until they go away.” ;)

    Sorry. Sorry.. Really!! :)

Well, I’m an up and coming sea kayaker, just not not as often as I once was (but I digress) . . . paddling the Romany (’97) and the Explorer into my twilight years I go, merrily along.

I’m 61 and never felt better in my life than today! I’m in better shape (physically and mentally) today than I was 25 years ago!!! Can’t remember when I felt younger than I feel today! Yahooooo!!!!!

There was a 65 year old kayaker at last weekend’s Mayor’s Cup in NYC who came in 2nd in the Touring Kayak class, leaving a good 30 kayakers half his age in his wake during the 4 and 1/2 hour (29 Mile) race. And then there is Gisli from Iceland, becoming the first Icelander to circumnavigate Iceland last year, at the age of 63 … amazing!
