It’s that time again…
It’s the time of the season
When the love runs high
In this time, give it to me easy
And let me try
With pleasured hands

Here in the Midwest there is a clear border between winter and “the season”. The season is that short window of time where we get to run out the doors like freaks and get our Ya-Ya’s out before we have to once again lock ourselves in out of the cold for another 4 or 5 months. Oh boy!
So, with Ya-Yas in mind, it’s time to start thinking about all the regional sea kayaking symposiums. The West Michigan symposium is always held memorial weekend. I’m looking forward to the Inland Sea symposium that goes on every other year now. This year it will be held from June 16th through the 19th. Door County will be held July 7th-10th. The Great Lakes Sea Kayak Symposium (The greatest symposium in the whole wide UP!) will be going on July 13-18th. Of course there is also the Qajaq Training Camp to think about.. although at the moment it I can’t seem to find the 2011 info. Oh, and then there are those personal paddling quests….
Now we can’t do everything we’d like to do of course. There are personal priorities, costs, responsibilities, expectations and the lot. One thing I do know though is that if you wear “real life” like an anchor it soon will be. You’ll be lucky if you can untangle the rope and swim back to the surface before your drown. But that’s a conversation requiring vast amounts of whiskey and at least one box of Mars bars… One thing is sure, you don’t get anything done without doing something.. It’s that time again…

Thanks for the checklist for the midwest kayak events. I had them all on the GSK calendar except for the West Michigan Symposium…. It’s there now.
Ann
“Ladies of the Lake” symposium deserves a mention as well.
Yeah, Ladies of the Lake doesn’t count because they never let me come!!!!! LOL! Good catch Marius!
Ann, which events will YOU be at??
@Marius: Ladies of the Lake, got it on the calendar, thanks.
@Derrick: Funny you mention it. Just trying to plan the summer calendar now.
I’ll be in MI this summer sometime, so there’s a chance to hit one of the events. I’ve never kayaked in Lake Superior and would love to kayak around Pictured Rocks. I haven’t been there since I was a kid. So GLSKS, for me would be the one to shoot for. Will let you know. Door County is unlikely unless I paddle accross from Sleeping Bear Dunes. LOL!
I will see you at the Inland Sea and Great Lakes SKSs.
