Check it out! Kokatat has just gone live with their fancy new website! And it is pretty nice. (That coming from someone who does this stuff for a living.) The new site is clean and easy to navigate and maybe most importantly, full of big beautiful pictures! I like how the feature carousel invites users to simply click on the sport they’re into, to be presented with the right gear for them. It’s sort of a suggestion box, navigation and sales tool all in one. Once in your chosen category, there are all sorts of ways to easily sift through the content to find something specific. It’s also nice to simply browse through the updated pictures. Mobile addicts will be pleased to note that a mobile friendly interface is coming soon as well. One thing though… I’m not quite sure what “Sort by Mojo” means? Calling Austin Powers!
Along with the new website, comes new and updated products including the new light weight Gore-Tex paddling suit & the re-designed MsFit PFD which we talked about here not too long ago. We’ll talk more about some of the new gear here in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for that.
Of course there’s a lot more content to explore as well; Diverse blog posts, team and paddler bios, product care content, information on current sponsored expeditions and more. All in all though, my favorite feature of the new website is pretty basic, I love the new product pictures. Seeing the products on human bodies out in the world we play in, makes it easier to envision how we’d look in the gear. (Well, if we were all built like the models are anyway.) I did sort of miss the option to select images of the gear in various colors. But if I had to choose between lively pics and sterile images with a color picker, I’d choose the new fresh pics as well. Of course you know me.. I still wish there were more options in black.
I prefer websites that respect the reader’s intelligence and don’t shout, get all faux trendy or “hawk wares” like a 1970′s car salesman. You don’t need to do that to sell products these days, especially good ones. Kokatat and their development team trusted their products to do the “selling” and happily went for simple beauty and straight forward usability with their website. Always a winner. Congratulations!
Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think…

Kokatat now has a website that matches the quality of their paddling gear. The sections on warranty, repairs and care, while not sexy & colorful, are extremely useful.
