About Me
My name is Derrick Mayoleth. I live in Baraboo, Wisconsin a small town of about 11,000 people situated about 2 hours from big water and a very long drive to salt water. In real life I’m a web developer, photographer and graphic designer.
In my other life I’m a paddling ACA certified coach at Rutabaga in Madison, Wisconsin. I teach both standard and traditional paddling styles with a focus on experiential learning techniques and kayak rolling for beginners. I also attend a good number of paddling symposiums each year either as an instructor or presenter. I also offer private lessons locally as well.
I’ve written occasional paddle related and non-paddling articles for publication as well as blogging right here almost daily since 1994.
I’ve also had the privilege to paddle and/or teach in some beautiful spots around the world including right here in the Great Lakes, California, Georgia, Anglesey in Wales, Israel, and in 2007 I circumnavigated the Island of Puerto Rico as well. This year (2009) in addition to my usual travels I plan to travel to Scotland to paddle from Glasgow to Inverness including exploring the world famous Loch Ness.
