New Hampshire paddler Mark Boucher seems to be doing a bit better after his near death experience on the Ashuelot River in NH just a few days back. Mark was pulled in and under by the heavy current under a dam. According to the story he was unable to fight his way out and when he become unconscious he was finally spit out. He was still in critical condition at the hospital just days ago, but now he seems to be improving fast. Yesterday they were able to remove the ventilator. To follow along, leave a note, or donate to his medical fund you can visit the website his family and friends set up at www.markjboucher.info.

So here’s a couple fun things. A bunch of my blogs are being posted over at Wellsphere these days. Wellsphere is a popular online community based around the concept of healthier living. Members are generally folks who are pretty conscious of fitness and health. I’m happy to share with them whatever weird tripe I can come up with. It also encourages me to write more about basic skill work again which you’ll see more of in the coming months.
In addition I’m going to be doing product reviews now exclusively for Playak.com so keep an eye out for that. Playak.com has been growing in leaps and bounds and includes, paddle news, events, reviews, and even a networking community just for us waterbabies as well! Apparently I have a sail coming. I’m going to have to start talking to my Australian friends about how exactly to make that all work!

Man, I hate it when I get scooped! LOL! Not really! As I always say, "We’re all in this together!" I had talked to Mike Web via email awhile ago when he was working out a deal with Chris Mitchell to bring production of Rockpool Kayaks to the states but at the time it was not set in stone. Chris is also the distributer for Reed here in the states as well. At the time it was not quite a done deal. Well Stan at Kayak Dreamin’ got the news and posted it a couple days ago. According to Chris the prices will come in between $3100-$3400. Read More Here. By the way, the new fancy website is up as well. Oh, and happy birthday Stan!

ok, I’m awake!! Here’s some stuff from around the web. . .
So Christian Knight (who Wave Dog calls an "paddling & publishing icon") posted to a local paddling newsgroup this moring asking what the best paddling towns are? Ones that "journalists" could afford to live in. . . hmmmm. Any thoughts? Tempe?
So you saw Rowland & Cath’s kayaks right? Well there was this in Paddlewise. . "Yeah, but why are the boats painted like pajamas?" Now that’s funny! Scott replies: "Well, duh! That’s to make them easier to sleep in on those nights that they can’t make land :-)".
You may enjoy these shots from Jan Egil Kristiansen from the Faroe Islands.

Well, my friends, the time has come
To raise the roof and have some fun
Throw away the work to be done
Let the music play on

Happy Tuesday! I woke up this morning to see that Justine Curgenven & Barry Shaw completed their circumnavigation of the South Island of New Zealand. Fantastic! The next challenge they face (after the hangovers. . .) will be navigating Heathrow which seems to be having a storm of its own at the moment. Seems like a good enough reason for them to spend a bit more time in New Zealand.

Jon Bowermaster has added some updates to his Antarctica website and invites everyone to have a look. Jon points out that their recent expedition was just two degrees north of the Wilkins Ice Shelf which has been in the news recently as another canary in the global warming coal mine.
