Hey, here’s a new website worth checking out. Reel Water Productions is of course the home of Bryan Smith creator of the Pacific Horizons DVD, 49 Megawatts and more. Bryan and I have been working on this site for a bit of time now and we’re both happy to finally make it available to everyone. Once I got the template down, Bryan took over. . . and I have to admit I was amazed by the amount on content. You’ll find video clips, bios, past production history, a large gallery of pictures and no less than 3 blogs! Yeah, well 2 of them have been around for awhile but now they are all living in the same home. So check it out at www.ReelWaterProductions.com. Congrats Bryan on the new site!

In questions of who is the devil and who is the saint one truth emerges. Most are neither. . . and both.
Being online daily is a mixed experience as many know or are learning. Even paddle bloggers are not immune. I talk many times about how people learn differently. Of course they see the world through many different lenses as well. You could give a person a flower and some of course would find “evil” in the gesture. Usually we can agree to disagree. Sometimes though people feel they need to keep up a war. The problem with the online world of course is that it puts you in a place that’s very accessible. Friends, strangers, enemies, exes, are all given a ticket to your wanderings. With that comes all the good feedback you get every day, but also sometimes opens you up to harassment, stalking and daily attacks. Not always visible online, but behind the scenes. Still very disturbing none the less.

I go to the bar, I ring my coat, I call the bartender
Said "Look man, come down here", he got down there
So what you want?
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer. . .

Before I go any further with this silliness, I want to mention that Jeff Allen of Sea Kayaking Cornwall is off on the first leg of his Scandinavian Adventure today. I will have an interview with Jeff tomorrow. . . Well, I could have posted it today. . . but there’s this strange narcissistic fixation with MY problems. . . .!
Well, really I just wanted to have a little break to show you around the few additions I’ve made to the site. I know it’s tough to come home and find someone’s moved your chair! Besides, these interviews take more work! “Waaaaaa!!!”.

Walkin’ the tightrope stretched around the world
Walkin’ the tightrope save the boys and girls
Walkin’ the tightrope let’s make it right
Walkin’ the tightrope do it do it tonight

Yesterday in my post “Slipped in the Cosmos” I talked a bit about what happens to your blog once you hit that “Publish” button. It’s all pretty interesting if you are sort of geeky. Hopefully it gives paddle bloggers out there a few little tidbits to think about. On the other hand, you don’t want to get wrapped up in it either. So why blog?

"Let’s see if I’ve got this straight," he returned. It was a phrase of hers that he had adopted
"It’s a lazy Saturday afternoon, and there’s this couple lying naked in bed
reading the Enclyclopaedia Britannica to each other,
and arguing about whether the Andromeda Galaxy is more ‘numinous’ than the Resurrection.
Do they know how to have a good time or don’t they?"
- carl sagan
Remember that bit in the movie “Contact” where a signal sent back to earth from outer space carried the images of Adolf Hitler during the opening ceremony of the 1936 Olympics? The idea that every TV and Radio signal we let loose into space may be our first impression to life on other planets is downright scary. The last thing we need are alien civilizations judging our species based on the Fox Network! I’ve often wondered if the fact that we’ve not met aliens yet is only because they are avoiding us.

A little extra time this weekend let me update my wallpaper images. You can go here to view them and download any you wish. There is a mix of kayaks and scenery. I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for something new to put on my desktop. Luckily I have a billion photos to choose from. For now I put up a dozen images all cropped to 1600×1200 which should cover most desktop set ups quite well. Enjoy!

Yeah well, when I was taking French 101 in High school I aways thought, “What will I ever use this for??”. Little did I know that had I paid more attention I could have better understood Steve Martin’s jokes and of course been able to read Charles’s website. Wait, does that say Pacific Horizons?? Apparently the phrase, “Rock On!” is the same in any language! If by chance you speak French you might enjoy this website at www.soireesaventures.com.
